Pork Added to 2008 Stimulus Package - Is Your Rebate In Jeopardy?

As usual with Congress, the 2008 Stimulus package with the great tax rebate is now falling into the hands of Congress.

This means that every member of the House and Senate are trying to add their own agenda to the package. This includes trying to appeal to seniors who may not have received anything as part of the package. This pork could possibly reduce tax rebates by $100-200 per individual. Many of these changes have been presented by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, Democrat from Montana.

Changes Include:

  • $6 Billion additional funds to the 2008 stimulus package
  • $50 Billion in incentives to businesses
  • Seniors on Social Security who pay no taxes a rebate
  • Extension of unemployment benefits by 13 weeks
  • Additional spending initiatives (PORK)

As I said previously - Who Will Pay For This Package?

Most likely all of us in the way of more taxes in 2009.

As we continue to get updates we will keep a 2008 Stimulus Package Counter now at $156 Billion.
